Local company first to donate to new SLSC
Local organisation South East Excavations, based in Tweed Heads, has become the first foundation supporter of the new Salt Surf Life Saving Club by donating $10,000.
Salt Surf Life Saving Club is New South Wales’ first new surf life saving facility in over a decade. It was granted affiliation with Surf Life Saving NSW on December 1st 2004, creating the 10th club to service the growing far north NSW coast.
The funds donated by South East Excavations, a major local contractor involved in the development of Salt Village, will assist with the fit out and purchasing of rescue equipment for the new Salt Surf Life Saving Club.
South East Excavations CEO, Brian Turner, said “I feel that it is important to support our local community, surf life saving plays such an integral role in the lives of those of us who live on the coast –it is a worthwhile cause and it is impressive to see a new club affiliated for this fast growing region.
“South East Excavations attempts to support the local community in areas where there is a broad benefit across the community as a whole” said Mr Turner.
The establishment of the Salt Surf Life Saving Club, within Salt village, will help ensure residents and visitors enjoy the 1.2km of beach and the two resort pools in Salt village, making the beach and pools safe for residents and visitors to surf and swim, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year.
Surf lifesaving remains as integral part of Australia’s culture and history. Since 1906 Australia’s volunteer surf lifesavers have saved nearly 500,000 lives.
Surf Life Saving Australia boasts more than 106,000 members, of all ages, across almost 300 clubs around the Australian coastline.
To build membership for the new Salt Surf Life Saving Club a fundraising and membership sign on day is planned for October this year, more details will be advised closer to the date.
Salt village at South Kingscliff NSW is being developed by the Ray Group, one of Australia’s most innovative and respected property developers. The village is already well advanced, the first wave of residents are moving into their homes and the village centre has been operational since January 2005.
Salt is a flagship integrated resort and residential community which is testament to the Ray Group’s commitment to delivering superior environments for living and recreating.
It is unique in Australia, a 180-acre master planned coastal village in one of the country’s most beautiful locations, on the Tweed Coast north of Byron Bay. Salt is located within a 15 minute drive to Coolangatta airport, 30 minutes from Byron Bay and 90 minutes from Brisbane.
The village offers 1.2 kilometres of ocean beach frontage, still water estuary frontage, 35 acres of parks - including a three-acre central amphitheatre park and almost three acres of beachfront parks - and more than seven kilometres of bicycle tracks and walkways.
The village centre will be Salt’s energy hub, featuring Saltbar, restaurants, retail outlets, an IGA supermarket, health club, the new Salt surf life saving club, and two world class resort hotels.
When complete, the full value of Salt’s built structures will be around $1bn. The project will be one of the Tweed’s biggest economic and employment drivers, injecting an estimated $80 million in annual recurring revenue into the local region.
