Surfs Up for Salt Village
The newly established Salt Surf Life Saving Club at Salt Village in South Kingscliff will be having its first “sign on” day for members on Sunday August 7th between 10 am and 12 noon.
Anyone interested in joining the Club can sign on or obtain further information on this day. Week-end patrols will start with the commencement of the surfing season in October.
The newly appointed Club Captain, David Hoare, said “We are looking for all types of members, seniors, juniors, nippers and social members. We are particularly interested in members with surf life saving qualifications, but that is not essential because over the next few months we will be training new lifesavers at Salt.”
Committee members will be available on the day at the Surf Life Saving facility building (the white building at the eastern end of Salt Central Park) to discuss any questions that people may have about joining or the types of memberships available. The Club is encouraging everyone, including parents, to come along and find out more about life saving and Salt surf club.
The club membership categories vary giving people a variety of membership options to choose from depending on which area interests them.
Everyone who joins the Club before 1 October 2005 will be classified as “Inaugural Members”’ and will be entitled to purchase exclusive inaugural member’s merchandise from the Club. This merchandise will be on sale at the sign on day.
Salt Surf Life-Saving Club (SLSC) is the first new surf club in New South Wales in over a decade. Club President, Gary Bugden, said “This is a great opportunity to be an important part of a new and exciting surf club. While we strive to provide a first class lifesaving facility for Salt Beach and neighboring areas we also plan to enjoy ourselves and ensure that our members have plenty of good fun.”
The establishment of the Salt Surf Life-Saving Club and permanent lifeguard facility, within Salt Village, will help ensure residents and visitors enjoy the 1.2km of beach and the two resort pools in Salt Village, making beach and pools safe for residents and visitors to surf and swim, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year.
